Residential Fire Alarm Activation

Tuesday, November 8, 2022
Today Station 57 volunteers were alerted for a Residential Fire Alarm activation in the 3000 Block of Big Stone Beach Road. Command 57 responded with Deputy Fire Chief Johnson and arrived to find nothing evident from a medium/large single story single family residential dwelling and established the South Bowers Command, Squad 57 and Tanker 57 responded within minutes and arrived to begin their investigation. Engine 57 with Captain Rickards responded and arrived to assist crews already on scene. Crews were able to silence the alarm and all units returned.

Vehicle Stuck in Floodwater

Tonight Station 57 volunteers were alerted for a Subject in a Vehicle that was stuck in floodwater down to South Bowers Beach. Units arrived to find a vehicle that was caught in floodwater and personnel donned Water Rescue Suits to retrieve the subject from the vehicle.

Station 57 Announces Water Rescue Series

Station 57 Volunteers are proud to announce that we will be holding A Water Rescue Training Series consisting of the following classes: Water Rescue I, Water Rescue II and Rescue Boat Operations over the next 2 months. We want to thank the Delaware State Fire School for coming and teaching us the necessary skills that pertain to Water rescue ahead of our busy summer months. We have multiple students from Kent and Sussex Counties that are participating in the training series and several area departments that will be assisting us with Marine Units for the hands on portion of the classes that will take place at Cedar Creek Boat Ramp and out on the Delaware Bay.
